The Department of Interior has notified Zion National Park that social distancing measures are no longer required on park transportation. To that effect, the Park will be standing-down shuttle ticket operations/requirements in stages. First come first serve shuttle ridership on the National Park Shuttle up the main canyon scenic drive will return beginning Friday, May 28th.
Masks are still required in all in-park transportation conveyances, and groups travelling together are encouraged to maintain separation from other groups and employ COVID-19 sanitation practices.
Red Rock Shuttle will continue to provide shuttle service up the main canyon for anyone interested through the end of business on June 15, 2021. All tickets for any shuttles up the main canyon scenic drive June 15, to the end of the year will be refunded in full by end of business June 1, 2021. What time should I arrive?:
You should plan to arrive at the kiosk at least 10 minutes in advance of your shuttle time. If you need to find parking, plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Add an additional 30 minutes if you are renting gear from Zion Outfitters. IMPORTANT: WE ARE ON MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME. IF YOU ARE COMING FROM LAS VEGAS YOU NEED TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL HOUR ON YOUR DRIVING TIME TO ACCOUNT FOR THE TIME ZONE CHANGE.
Where do I check in to go board the shuttle?
We perform check-in and boarding at our kiosk right outside of Zion Outfitters about 10 minutes before the shuttle leaves. You will receive a ticket with your name and shuttle time. Our sales staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and they will explain how pickup works.
Where can I go in the main canyon?
We stop at the Zion Lodge, the Grotto, and the Temple of Sinawava. These are the locations of Emerald Pools, Angels Landing, and the Narrows respectively.
Can I just hop on at one point and get off at another, like the park shuttle?
Due to the fact that we are not the NPS, we cannot transport you between locations. We can’t pick you up at the Zion Lodge and drop you off at the Grotto, or pick you up at the Temple of Sinawava and drop you off at the lodge, or any other combination of intrapark transfers. However, your ticket will let you board our shuttle at any time of the day, to go back into the park. You can do this as many times as you want throughout the day.
Do I have to be back at the trailhead by my return time?
No. The system we use automatically assigns a return time. You do not have to follow it. Our shuttle runs every 30 minutes. When you are finished with your hike, wait at the pickup location until one of our shuttles comes by to pick you up. If you are returning during the busy time for returns, 2-6 pm, please allow additional time, as we may not have space and slots are first-come, first-serve. The last shuttle runs at 9:00 P.Mfrom April-September.
Where can I park my vehicle?
The Zion Canyon Visitor Center parking is free, so we recommend trying to park there. It is located just inside the west entrance on the right. Our pickup location is located just outside the west entrance. It is about a 5-minute walk. Parking at the visitor’s center is typically full by about 9 am. There is a parking lot at the Zion Outfitters, but after the visitors center fills up, this fills up quickly. After that is full, parking along the street is fine, however, THE ONLY FREE PARKING IS THE VISITOR’S CENTER. Everywhere else will be paid parking. The list of parking location is as follows:
What is the park entrance fee?
The Park Entrance is a separate fee. This fee must be paid whether your party walks in, bikes in, drive-in, or takes a shuttle in. There are a few options. If you are going into the park before you board the shuttle, you will need to purchase the $35, 7 day pass, good for all of the occupants in one vehicle. If you are planning on visiting other locations managed by the National Park service, we recommend the $80 America the beautiful pass, which will let you into any national park in the U.S. for one year, as well as several other locaitons. If you do not have one of these options when you board the shuttle, you will have to pay $20 per person. It is highly recommended that you pick one of the other options, either the 7-day pass, or the America the Beautiful Pass.
Where do I rent gear for the Narrows?
You can rent gear from Zion Outfitters. Plan on arriving about 30 minutes prior to check-in time to check that the gear fits. You can reserve gear in advance at https://zionoutfitter.com/ or you can walk up on a first-come, first-serve rental. They have the following gear packages:
- Warm Weather Package including Canyoneering boots, Neoprene Socks, Hiking Sticks.
- Cold Weather Package including Dry Bibs, Canyoneering boots, Neoprene Socks, Hiking Sticks.
- Dry Bag Rental and Purchases
- Backpacking Gear
- Hiking Gear
- Snacks
What happens if I need to cancel?
If you cancel outside of 48 hours prior to departure, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel within 48 hours, there are no refunds. If the trail or park is closed because of weather or other issues, we will refund your reservation in full.
